ICC World Cup 2023: Australia stuns Sri Lanka to pull off things right

The ICC World Cup 2023 was going very badly for five-time world champion Australia. In their first clash, they lost to India, and secondly, dangerous South Africa blasted them with a 134-run margin. They roared back against Sri Lanka and pulled things back on track.

Going into a match against Sri Lanka Australia was under pressure because of the kind of cricket they played in the first two games. They could not cross the 200-run mark in both matches, and their bowling also looked a bit uncooked.

They did the same thing for what they are known for—great comebacks. The Aussies stun a team led by Kusal Mendis with five wickets in hand. Their bowler got back on track; all the bowlers looked in rhythm, whether it was Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc, or skipper Pat Cummins.

Australia felt in trouble initially in the contest during the partnership of Lankan openers, but skipper Pat Cummins broke all arrows pointing at him with two wickets. Adam Zampa got his rhythm back on song to pick four wickets. At last, they restrict the opposition just on 209.

When it came to batting, David Warner again fell short of runs; Steven Smith missed and hit on his pad. Mitchell Marsh appeared in sublime touch and threaded a stan with Marnus Labuschagne to fly away from Sri Lanka.

With the half centuries of Marsh and Josh Inglis, Australia chased the target with ease, with finishing touches from Maxi and Stoinis.

Over all, they performed like a champion side, but still, they lack some points, and their fielding has been average in the tournament. In this match, it was better but not their best as usual; they dropped a few catches and chances in the field.

At last, they have gotten the push they needed. I'm hoping they'll keep this form for the rest of the tournament.
