Virat Kohli roared back in the Asia Cup 2023 with a thunderous century against Pakistan. It was his 47th ODI century, and he also completed 13 thousand runs in the ODI format, followed by 122. With this achievement, Virat is just 2 steps away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries.
In the
match against the archrivals in the super four stages of the Asia Cup 2023, he
came to bat and started his inning a bit slowly. He adapted to the conditions
at the iconic cricket ground in Colombo and started to look in flow. He
threaded a beautiful partnership with KL Rahul, and both remained not out till
the last ball of the inning, and Virat ended the inning with a flourishing six
to finish his score at 122. With this score, he notched up his 47th one-day
international century and emerged as player of the match for his stunning
knock.
In the same
match, he achieved another milestone of 13 thousand One day International run and become the fastest to reach the milestone. He surpasses the
all-time great batting talisman Sachin Tendulkar.
Another
record that Virat could break very soon is Sachin Tendulkar's 49 centuries in
this particular form of the game. Kohli is not too far away from achieving the
record. According to some cricket experts and former cricketers, he could break
this record before the World Cup 2023 because of the form he has been carrying
presently.
