ICC World Cup 2023: The Netherlands creates history at the biggest stage

The Netherlands last night made history in the ICC World Cup 2023 by beating dangerous South Africa. The Orange Army defeated the Patriots by a 38-run margin. Their skipper Scott Edwards played important role in creating history at the mega stage.

Before the contest started, everybody was predicting a very easy victory for South Africa, but the Netherlands came with different plans. Firstly, they came back in a sublime way while batting first from 82-5 to 244, when they came to bowl, they just drilled through strong batting array of proteas.

Skipper Scott Edwards stunning half century set the tone for victory.

The things stated were working nicely for the Orange Army when the skipper came out in the middle after a huge batting burst of wickets. He stood into the crease with tailenders to build partnerships; he endorsed his team to fight total. He scored 78 while remaining unbeaten and striking out eleven batters throughout his inning.

Sublime bowling performance to bash South Africa

When the chase started, South Africa was still the favorites to win the match, but the Netherlands turned the thoughts into doubt by picking regular wickets. At one stage, the chasing team lost five wickets for just 89 runs. The situation became very tough for proteas.

The game-changer killer, Miller, was there in the middle, and hopes were also there with him. At the end, bowlers showed great character and helped the team to a historical victory.

Nobody anticipated that level of play from the Netherlands going into the contest since South Africa had played such outstanding cricket in the first two games. Rain forced the match to be shortened to 43 overs. The first team struggled until the 25th over of the inning, when they were 112 for 6, after losing their top order early in the batting order.

Leading man Scott Edwards seized command, scoring a captain's knock of 78 off just 69 balls. The lower order chipped in late to help put 244 on the scoreboard.

While it appeared that the chasing team would have an easier time getting the runs needed, South Africa lost wickets quickly. They were bowled out on 207 after failing to muster any momentum during the inning. Although he looked good, David Miller was unable to lead his team to victory.
