The only person to score a century in a World Cup match against India is Glenn Turner. After a long 48-year break, a middle-order batsman from New Zealand becomes the second player to achieve a century against men in blue in 21 matches of the ICC World Cup 2023.
New Zealand's first-inning innings at Dharamsala was bedraggled as they lost wickets quickly. Rachin Ravindra, 32, provided steady batting to sustain the waving inning. They put together a stand of 159 against the men in blue's excellent bowling.
Rachin Ravindra left a lot of work for the senior batter because he was unable to keep up with the right-hander. He never let his team down and contributed to a strong total on the scoreboard before hitting a stunning century. In the ICC World Cup 2023, he scored his first hundred runs with nine fours and five sixes.
He took his time assessing the conditions at the beginning of the inning, and once he was at ease with the tempo and bounce, he began to get his shorts in order. In the field, he also had a few opportunities. He made the most of it and scored an incredible century.
Daryl Mitchell did a great job contributing to his squad; he stayed to the very end and amassed 130 runs off of just 127 balls. His inning made it possible for the Kiwis to post a competitive total.
The Indian bowlers were giving the Kiwis serious trouble with their bizarre line and length bowling when the 32-year-old reached the creases. He handled the Chellange phase beautifully and displayed a wonderful patience to get through that trying time.
However, despite facing a strong bowling lineup, the youthful all-round player also displayed excellent technique and a few attacking moves. He exuded positivity from the moment he played his first ball. Rachin Ravindra assisted Daryl Mitchell, her partner, in taking her time as well.
